We often forget that every day is a New Day ??????. We go day to day in a rush to get to the next day, the following weekend, holiday or vacation. We often don’t think of stopping long enough to enjoy the very day that is present. Every day is a chance to begin again…. If you are making your own schedule and it does not seem to be working very well, Stop, and recognize the fact that it is You who are running yourself in circles!

If you are game …. let’s do a simple responsibility and time cleanse to start with: Go to your calendar, business, and personal planner and look at every appointment and function you have scheduled for the next month.

If you do not have a planner, then get a calendar or piece of paper and list your daily chores, responsibilities, appointments and social obligations· Now, look at each commitment and ask yourself the following 5 questions.

Give each of your answers a rating between 1 and 5 (1 being no longer essential and 5 very important)

1. How important is this to my life, family or work?

2. Are the deadlines listed, essential deadlines?

3. Can I eliminate this? And if I do who or what will it affect?

4. Can I move this to another month or to the end of the year?

5. Can I change the nature of the obligation?

As you look at each obligation and answer all 5 questions about each one of them, put the number that you gave to that obligation next to it.

Now, with a pencil … Take all of your number 5 obligations and put them back into your planner or on your calendar.

Review your 4s again and decide how many of them need to go back into your schedule. Take all that is left over and put the list in the back of your planner or clip it to your calendar. You can re-add any of these to your schedule if and when they resurface as a necessity that needs to be done. Then review your schedule every week to be sure you have entered in time for fun, family, and friends and be sure you made an entry for Date Night! Do this for 3 months and see if it is helpful for clearing out things that have become more habit than a necessity.Life is so short, and it is so important to make every day count. Give yourself time to enjoy your life, your family and your friends.

***In Most Cases …There are “No do-overs”***

Have a terrific week
